Troop 65 - Stockbridge Helps Out

Writer: Santana FlaniganSantana Flanigan

Troop 65 - Stockbridge volunteered at the Feeding God's People Food and Clothing Pantry in Stockbridge, Georgia. Scouts spent their Saturday morning sorting cloths for distribution to the local homeless community, and they made and distributed food boxes for the needy. Our hardworking Scouts even got to meet Anthony Ford, Mayor of Stockbridge!

The Scout Oath encourages Scouts to "to help other people at all times," and today's volunteer opportunity turned a weekly recitation into action. Scouting is more than outdoor activities; the Scout Oath asks Scouts to make the following commitment: "On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight."
