Reflections from Philmont Scout Ranch

Writer: Santana FlaniganSantana Flanigan

Levi F. and his dad, Assistant Scoutmaster Santana, traveled to Philmont Scout Range in Cimarron, New Mexico for the BSA Family Adventure Camp. Assistant Scoutmaster Santana said, "We'd heard wonderful things about the Philmont Scout Range, and the BSA Family Adventure Camp at the Philmont Training Center provided an excellent sampling of the ranch's activities. Our Philmont experience lived up to the hype, and it was a perfect blend of high adventure, back-country hiking, and historical programming. It was a customizable experience, and PTC had activities for all ages and activity levels."

Levi F. added, "Hiking the Tooth of Time was my favorite activity of the week. The sunrise hike to Lovers' Leap had a great view, and the National Scouting Museum had cool memorabilia.

Troop 65 plans to send Scouts to Philmont within the next two years. Philmont is a National High Adventure Base where crews of Scouts complete a backpacking trek through the New Mexico back county. #philmontscoutranch #philmonttrainingcenter
